Lesson Planning of Measurement of Perimeter and Area Subject Mathematics Grade 5 th Students` Learning Outcomes Identify the units for measurement of perimeter and area. Write the formulas for perimeter and area of square and rectangle. Apply formulas for perimeter and area of a square and rectangle. Information for Teachers Any enclosed shape which doesn’t` have any open ends and it starts and ends at the same point is called closed shape. Shapes whose line segments don`t meet and it don`t start and end at the same point is called open ended shape. Distance of around the closed ended shape is called its perimeter. Perimeter can be measured in the units of meter, centimeter and kilometre. Perimeter of a shape is calculated by adding length of all of its sides. Area is the amount of region that a shape covers i.e. Area = Length x Breadth Area can be measured in square units. Material / Resources Writing board, chalk / marker, duster, pencil, paper, s

Lesson Planning of Perimeter and Area Subject Mathematics Grade 5 th Students` Learning Outcomes The students will be able to Solve appropriate problems of perimeter and area. Information for Teachers Total measurement of the boundary of any closed shape is called perimeter. Units of perimeter can be measured in meter, centimeter and kilometre. Perimeter can be found by adding all the sides of a shape. Perimeter of Square = 4 x length of side. Area of a square = 2 x length of side. Perimeter of rectangle = 2(Length + Breadth) Area of rectangle = Length x Breadth The area of any closed figure represents the region covered by that shape. Material / Resources Writing board, chalk / marker, duster, pencil, paper, ruler, scissors, chart paper cutouts with different shapes and sizes and text book. Introduction Half coloured piece of two same size bread`s slices of rectangle shape was given to two children as mentioned in following figures. The chil

Lesson Planning of Solve Real Life Problems involving Average Subject Mathematics Grade 5 th Students` Learning Outcomes Define an average (arithmetic mean) Find an average of given numbers. Solve real life problems involving average Information for Teachers Data set is a collection of data, usually presented in tabular form. The resulted obtained by adding several quantities together and then dividing this total by the number of quantities is called average. An average of a data set is a measure of the “middle” value of the data set. PROCEDURE: To calculate the average, first add all of the numbers to find the sum. Then divide the sum by the amount of numbers in your set. The result is the average of your numbers. SAMPLE PROBLEM: Suppose the ages of four students are given below. We can find their average age through following steps: 9, 10, 7, 6 Step 1: Find the sum 9 + 10 + 7+ 6+ =32 Step 2:   Divide the sum by the amount of numbers in your set.
