- Recognize, find out, create and use more rhyming words.
Information for Teachers
- A word that has the same sound or ends with the same sound as another word is called a rhyming Word, As; lake, take, etc.
- Rhyming is a repetition of similar sound at the end of two or more words and is most often used In poetry and songs.
- While teaching the lesson, the teacher should also use textbook wherein and whenever it is applicable.
Material / Resources
Writing board,
chalk/marker, textbook, list of rhyming words
Introduction
- Recap the concept of rhyming words by reading a new poem from their textbook.
- Tell students that you will have rhyme-Time.
- Give them a word and ask them to say quickly a rhyming word and then you say one.
- So you are one ‘team’ and the students are the other team. Whoever runs out of rhyming words first will be the loser.
- If you like, you can play for a few turns and then lose to your students, even if you know more words.

Sum up / Conclusion
- Conclude the lesson by telling them that rhyming words will help them in spelling and in increasing the vocabulary.
Assessment
- Think of and write eight pairs of rhyming words, like coat/goat in their notebooks.
- Involve the students in solving problems related to rhyming words given in exercise at the end of unit/chapter of the textbook.
Follow up
- Ask the students to find out more rhyming words at home.
- Ask them to look up the poem in the textbook which has rhyming words. Add more rhyming words and create their own poem using this list of rhyming word
